During the course of the year the Community Safety Department, with the support of Fire Fighters from local stations and local Community Fire Fighters, attend and support a large number of community events. These events range from talks to community groups, attendance at local gala days, fetes, fire station open days and other large public events.
Community events provide an opportunity for the Fire service to address community concerns and at the same time raise community safety awareness and the risk from fire. Fire fighters will be available to respond to questions about fire safety, giving advice and information relevant to the particular needs of the group or the individual.
A new community safety support vehicle will soon be available to attend many of these events providing members of the public with the opportunity to identify common causes of domestic fire in an interactive and exciting way. They will also discover what it may be like in a real fire by experiencing the on board Fire Scenario room.
